LED ZEPPELIN (1969 – 1975) – Remastered, Remixed and Sampled

Following the worldwide success of the ‘Paul’s Boutique’ remix project ‘Caught In The Middle of A 3 Way Mix’ (produced with fellow Solid Steel DJs; Moneyshot and DJ Food) DJ Cheeba returns with another documentary style mix charting the huge influence and mass appeal of arguably the greatest rock band of all time: Led Zeppelin.

This mix has been made to coincide with the release of ‘Celebration Day’ and digs chronologically through the band’s first six albums (1969-1975), picking out key tracks, their influences, subsequent covers and some of the notable examples of where they were sampled in hip hop, dance music and pop.

From ‘Good Times, Bad Times’ to ‘Kashmir’ this is a DJ mix made for everyone from the die hard fans who were there in 69′ to the kids who only know the name from the iconic tee shirts. Turn it up loud… there’s no other way to hear it!

‘Caught In The Middle of A 3 Way Mix’ – DJ’s; Cheeba, Moneyshot, Food

Years in the planning, months in production, countless tweaks and flips and im stoked to say the Paul’s Boutique reconstruction mix i have done with DJ Moneyshot and DJ Food is finally finished and available for download. 150 or so original tracks, sampled interviews from The Beasties and the Dust Bros, rare demo versions and so much more all get the Solid Steel treatment as 3 of us take 20mins each to remix. The result is a fast paced cut up of one of the most seminal sampling albums of all time. Artwork is by the excellent Jim Mahfood and coloured by Strictly Kev.

Obviously massive respect goes out to The Beasties, The Dust Brothers, Mario C. and all involved in the making of the original album. Still one of my all time favorites and hugely influential on everything i’ve ever done with music.

The mix was over half way completed when they heard the tragic news of MCA‘s death in May so the impetus to finish it was instantly doubled and new meaning given to the project. It goes without saying that this is also a tribute to Adam Yauch and the legacy he left behind and we hope it will be embraced by Beastie fans around the globe.

Download the mix without the Solid Steel intro from DJ Food’s Soundcloud here:

‘Revenge of The Nerd’

In 2010, DJ Cheeba‘s first audio visual mix ‘The Reels of Solid Steel’ set a new level of progression for DJs. Now in 2011 he returns with the next episode… ‘Revenge Of The Nerd’. A quick fire, attention frying, mash of sure fire club hits, stone cold classics, countless acapellas and turntable tricknology, all set to a visual feast of music videos, pop culture cameos, kung fu interludes and cinematic delights. Mixed with incredible flair and imagination, this is another bench mark in contemporary DJ culture. As Cheeba puts it… “It’s cut and paste sound and pictures for people with open minds and short attention spans.”

Alternatively you can view ‘Revenge of The Nerd’ on Solid Steel and Vimeo. People who are signed up to Vimeo will also be able to access a download link. There will be an iPhone specific download very soon.

There is also this audio edit which was made specifically for Solid Steel which you can download by clicking the small black arrow to the right of the player.

Cheeba will be touring in 2011 to promote this mix using turntables, Serato’s Video SL software, and a heap of other far out gizmos that make for a truly spectacular audio visual show. For all booking inquiries please contact: ben@mixedbizness.co.uk

Thanks for watching and listening. Any comments are of course, welcomed and appreciated.
